Today i will quickly talk to you about one of the most exciting palettes that i own and my favourite look to create with it. 🙂 It is the “infamous”, or rather, very well known Naked Ultimate Basics eyeshadow palette by Urban Decay.
**PAUSE! I wanted to remind you guys that at the weekend i have launched a high-end beauty giveaway that you can enter here.**
Enjoy & without further do let’s get straight into the post!
As always, Urban Decay does not disappoint with the palette packaging – this one is metal, textured and heavy. Exactly everything i’d be looking for in a palette that retails for around £40. It feels expensive – rightly so! 😀 Also, it displays beautifully on a vanity table.
When you open it up, there are 12x matte shades that cover a wide variety of tones and colours; from warm to cool, from nude to black. I guess the name fits the product because genuinely if you buy this palette then you are all set to create many looks, as it has all the basic shades.
The palette also includes a massive mirror which is always a bonus. In terms of the little duo-sidal brush that comes with it, i personally like it a lot. As you can see it’s being well loved – the bristles are soft and fluffy, making is effortless to blend on one side. The other side is perfect for patting on the inner corner highlight shades or for drawing a line of eyeshadow around the lower lash line.
The formula for the shadows varies; yes, all of them are creamy but there is a difference in pigmentation. The lighter shades require a few layers before it becomes visible on your lid, in fact it works much better when applied wet (for example with MAC prep+prime fix spray). The darker shades are very pigmented and just wow.
The durability of them on your eyes will depend on whether or not you use an eye primer – i highly recommend you do so if you want the look to last all day.
Here you can see all of the twelve shades, i think there is such a good basic choice to mix together for a pretty daytime look or more bold for the night.
I bought my palette from Debenhams for (normally) £39.50, but it has a 10% off deal right now so you only pay £35.55 . Click here to shop.
I recently started wearing a combination of these shadows for my day to day look and i get so many complements on how my eyes pop! So, if you have a mixture of greeny/browny/hazely eyes then you must try this out.
So, what i do for this quick look is apply Nude all over my lid and brow bone as a transition shade. Then on the outer half of the eye nicely blend out Lockout. Carefully pat on a little bit of Extra Bitter on the outer corners of your eye (it is mega pigmented, so don’t be too generous!) and blend that out. Lastly, to darken up that orange outer corner apply the tiniest bit of Lethal and once again blend. I also like to apply Lockout on my bottom lash line and blend to make my eyes stand out even more. This is a personal preference really – i think it looks more put together with this step.
It is such a subtle & gorgeous bronzy/orangey smokey look for daytime, adding that excitement to your look.
Overall go for it girl and buy this! It is a big yass from me.
This eyeshadow palette has gorgeous packaging that feels expensive as it should(because it is pricey haha) and there are 12x matte shades to play around with. Shades are nicely pigmented (although some colours do apply better with a fix spray) and it stays on for a long time if applied with an eye primer.
The most noticable downside i can think of is the little amount of fallout when using darker shades. But that said, it’s easily fixable with a bit of concealer!
Do any of you own this palette? Whether you do or not, what is your favourite shade? Also, how does the bronzy/orangey daytime smokey eye sound to you? I would love to find out, so let me know in the comment section below!
