L’Oréal Paris: Gold Obsession Collection Review (5 min read)

Hi guys!

Firstly, are you all caught up with my latest posts?

  2. DISCOUNT CODE: LADY BURGUNDY (EYELASHES & BEAUTY) (1 min read)
  3. KYLIE JENNER LIQUID LIPSTICKS: THREE DRUGSTORE DUPES (5 min read)

Cool, now get back to this one 🙂

Lately i became addicted to L’oréal Paris make-up after i realised how high quality it is … plus it has such an affordable price! Two main retailers in the UK that sell this brand are Boots and Superdrug for anyone wondering. My main advice is that sometimes Boots has different products out to Superdrug, so to make the most by visiting both!

Gold Obsession is their latest collection launched at beginning of October as far as i’m aware. I really hope that i manage to grab all the remaining cosmetics in this range, you’ll soon see why i’m so obsessed! Although there is one product i’m very disappointed in…

Enjoy xox

Lets start with two lipsticks. Is there ever a time when i don’t buy a new lip? I don’t think so! I picked out these two shades for now.

FullSizeRender 3.jpg

The packaging is very pretty – goes with the theme perfectly and in fact, they are divided into two categories – all gold for the base colour and gold&black ombre for creating a little twist to your look. £6.99 each. Click here to buy the gold or here to buy the red.

FullSizeRender.jpg

The shades i picked up were 228 VIP (matte) and Pure Gold.

228 is the perfect matte red for a classic look, very sophisticated and build able. It’s also the first ever red lipstick to add to my collection – it was always a colour i thought i can’t rock but i’m giving it a go!

FullSizeRender 2.jpg

Pure Gold is self-explanatory, it’s a gold, sparkly shade that i had never come across before! I’m in love, once i wore it to work and majority of my customers complemented the look!

IMG_8504.JPG

I feel that autumn is the one time of the year when you can full on play around with your make-up the most.

FullSizeRender 4.jpg

And here are some swatches! On the top you can see 228 (very, very pigmented), Pure Gold in the middle (that needs a few layers before you can build up the intensity) and the two shades mixed together in the heart.

IMG_8563.JPG

Of course, lets not forget about a lip liner. Lip liner is so important when applying darker lipsticks and every line has to be neat. I saw this one being recommended beside the lipsticks and i was intrigued to see that it’s clear?!

Sounds confusing, but it is fantastic – once you neatly line your lips, magically the lipstick you go on to apply will glide on in the shape you created. How? It states that it is a contour perfector and a colour blocker. It solves the issue of buying many liners for different lip shades, this one does it all! You need to check it out. £3.99, click here to buy it.

IMG_8566.JPG

Highlighter … yes, if i could i would apply this daily all over my face and become a glow goddess. However, this trend has not gotten here yet so lets get on with the review haha!

I always look to find a good drugstore highlighter, so when i saw this limited edition one i was over the moon.

It says that it’s a powder highlighter but it does not apply with a fan brush. When i swatched it, i realised that it had a wet feel to it, almost like a dense paste, really weird consistency considering the fact it says “Powder”. I then tried out applying the product with my fingers and it is the most pigmented highlighter i have ever seen! Usually £6.99 but it’s on an offer for only £4.99, click here to buy.

FullSizeRender 2.jpg

IMG_8576.JPG

I have been hard core dedicated to my ABH Brow Pomade, so picking this Brow Artist Shaper Pencil myst have been an impulsive decision while shopping. Oh, it’s in the shade 03 Brunette; with a wax side and a pigment side also as a little brush. I’m not a major fan of brow pencils, because of how sharp the brows turn out, but i think that i will use this to draw precise hair like lines in any additional sparse areas of my brows after shading them in. £4.99, click here to buy.

IMG_8580.JPG

Lastly, the product which i’m most disappointed with. I never give negative reviews to products but i actually have nothing nice to say about it. It let me down as i wanted to love it!

It is the Super Liner Ultra Precision Eyeliner in Gold. The whole idea is to have the intensity of a classic black eyeliner with a shimmer of gold coming through. However, when i wanted to create a look with it, no colour would apply on my eyelids! All that would show was some shimmer of gold and very faded black after various attempts of application. Not a good look.  Then i decided to see if maybe the colour will apply on my hand, still with no luck.

As a final trial i drew some lines on paper – the top line was with a single coat, as you can see it fades so soon. Second line shows you 7 applications – the colour only just showed up.  I think that this product is store exclusive to Superdrug as i cannot find a link to it! It was around £4.99.

FullSizeRender.jpg

I have no idea whether i maybe just picked up a faulty liner, or if it’s like that to everyone?

Kylie Jenner Liquid Lipsticks: Three Drugstore Dupes (5 min read)

Hey!

Back on track with my posts woop! Stay tuned to a new one every Wednesday 🙂

Personally, i am mega obsessed with all things Kylie Jenner and once she launched her beauty collection i freaked out. However, since i live in the UK it is hard to get my hands on her products. The shipping takes a long time and majority of time they are all sold out. I took on the challenge to find three Kylie Jenner liquid lipstick dupes!

I believe that they are almost spot on to the real ones, to see swatches and get all the details … carry on reading 🙂

I took a trip to some big Superdrug and Boot stores, and i was so pleased wth what i found. It took a lot of swatching and getting products all over my clothes haha!

fullsizerender-5

Candy K ($29 / £24)

The first dupe we will look at is the Candy K shade – one of the most desired shades in her whole collection. It is a gorgeous matte, deep, darker pink (apologies, i have no idea how to describe colours) and i have found a similar shade by NYX Cosmetics.

Candy-K-Kylie-LipKit-Photo-Nick-Saglimbeni-1520px.jpg

The NYX Liquid Suede Cream Liquid Lipstick in the shade Soft Spoken (04) is like a twin to Candy K.

Buy this dupe here.

True Brown K ($29 / £24)

It’s easy to say that Kylie herself began the brown lip trend. True Brown K became so easy to find a dupe for – once again NYX Cosmetics have this covered.

4d5efe8cb765f15353eefa9ee97434da.jpg

The NYX Liquid Suede Cream Liquid Lipstick in the shade Club Hopper (22) is what you need to achieve the True Brown K look.

Buy this dupe here.

KyMajesty ($29 / £24)

3494ceca00000578-3607531-image-a-210_1464122785196

This one is quite tricky to imitate by other liquid lipsticks. This one i have is also by NYX Cosmetics; a matte version, that you would need to add some glitter to in order to create the metalic look.

The NYX Liquid Lipstick Suede Cream Liquid Lipstick in the shade Foul Mouth (18) – it’s more of  a base to achieve KyMajesty.

Buy this dupe here.

FullSizeRender 3.jpg

Here are swatches of the three shades after application & while wet. Starting from the top we have shade Foul Mouth 18 (KyMajesty), Soft Spoken 04 (Candy K) and lastly  Club Hopper 22 (True Brown K).

fullsizerender

… and here you can see what they look like nearly dry!

fullsizerender-2

Now lets talk about their application, texture, durability, scent and price!

The application is smooth and the wands are specifically narrow in order for you to fill in your lips without a major fail.

Once you apply the formula all over your lips, it takes around 6 minutes for it to perfectly dry. It is very smudge proof which i’m so impressed with. In the course of one day i had various coffee’s, ate some meals and the colour was still on my lips!

The scent is not its strongest point – if anything it smells like a glue stick or some face paint. But this is not a major disadvantage – who will ever smell your lips?!

Lastly,  price – it is so amazing. ONLY £6.50 at Boots.

If i bought all three Kylie Jenner liquid lipsticks i would pay £87 but instead i have just paid £19.50. I saved £67.50 and am happy with what i got!

Thanks for reading! Let me know in the comment section below if you are a happy owner of the Kylie Jenner lip kits? Alternatively, are you now tempted to try out my three dupes for her shades?

I Attended The World Premiere of Bridget Jones’s Baby! (7 min read)

Hi guys, I hope that you’re all having a great day!

So while you’re here you either:

a) waited to find out what event I went to because you read the London: Sightseeing Gallery and Surprises post.

b) you just came across this post and want to check it out.

A big welcome to you all! Please follow my blog and stick around for the future posts 🙂

So on the 5th of September 2016 I was mega lucky to end up in the VIP section of the Bridget Jones’s Baby World Premiere in London. It was held in the Odeon Cinema near Covent Gardens and by far makes it the second most exciting event that I have attended in my life! (The first one will always be the Queen’s Garden Party).

IMG_7531.JPG

That day casually started off with sightseeing and finished off meeting so many celebrities. To find out who I met/saw carry on reading!

As I arrived at the event I was let through to the VIP section, right beside the pink carpet, which gave me an amazing opportunity to take close up photos and sometimes even speak to one or two amazing people & share the experience with you guys!

IMG_7539.JPG

Lets start off by listing celebrities that I have come close to:

Renée Zellweger, Patrick Dempsey, Colin Firth, Celia Imrie, Ellie Goulding, Jade Jones, Zara Holland, Sharon Maguire, Sarah Solemani, Emre Turkmen (Years & Years), Marvin Humes, Rochelle Humes, Sally Phillips, Helen Fielding, Gemma Jones, Neil Pearson and one of my favourite Youtubers EVER Louise Pentland!

Check out the photos, they always speak more than words:

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

It was my first premiere and everything seemed so exciting. At the start there was a fun host who got the audience involved and warmed up before all the celebrities arrived. There was a DJ, lots of press and all together a great atmosphere.

Few hours into the event the cinema began to play snippets of the movie and showed live interviews. I was over the moon with how the night had gone so far, then one of the security guys came over and told me that I can personally meet Renée Zellweger and have a chat with her. I freaked out! To make it even better, that same security man saw that I forgot a notepad to get an autograph on, so he gave me one of the massive cardboard posters to keep. #foreverthankful

As I was put on a spot to speak to Renée, nothing amusing came out of me – just the usual “omg I love you and the movie, you look perfect in your outfit today…” that she probably hears a million times during a World Premiere. Good one Karolina, she was meant to remember you from then on. But she was the most down to earth celebrity! So kind, nice and even told me that I looked beautiful. Of course she also signed that massive piece of cardboard I had.

On one side I was so chuffed that I now had a signed piece of merchandise, but on the other I now had to travel with it from London all the way back home to Scotland.

FullSizeRender.jpg

To this day I have no idea what to do with it? It’s so massive! Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Overall, it was such a great experience and if I ever get another opportunity to attend a premiere then I’ll be there within a heart beat. All I have to do now is actually find time to go to the cinema and watch Bridget Jones’s Baby properly!

Have you ever gone to a movie premiere? Have you already watched this movie or not yet?

London: Sightseeing Gallery & Surprises (5 min read)

Hi everyone! 🙂

As you may have read in the London Baby! post I had the chance to be there for four days. Today I will share with you my favourite places I saw and experiences I had while on the trip.

Enjoy!

IMG_7393.JPG

For out trip we have stayed with Lyall’s family, in the lovely town of Weybridge, and so we had to take the train to London on most days.

IMG_7394.JPG

Of course the first noticeable thing we went to see was the London Eye. It’s massive! We did not go on it during this trip as we already have done so back in 2013. For those wondering it takes around 30 minutes for the London Eye to spin once. You do get a wonderful view of London though, so if you ever get the chance to then definitely go on it!

IMG_7396.JPG

That day was so gloomy and rainy … but it’s okay, I’m so used to this weather anyway haha!

IMG_7401.JPG

I could not resist walking into the Shrek’s Adventure’s gift shop, I mean look at those adorable baby Shrek’s and the Gingerbread Man! I wanted them all!

IMG_7411.JPG

I then went to the London Sea Life Aquarium – so amazing! I took so many photos there that I will need to make another post on it, so keep your eyes out for this as it will be up tomorrow (Saturday).

IMG_7475.JPG

By the time that I got out of the London Sea Life Aquarium the rain had stopped, yay, and we could finally continue exploring the city without an umbrella.

IMG_7478.JPG

The next big attraction was the Palace of Westminster and Big Ben. It was then that I was told that Big Ben was in fact the bell inside of the clock. Who knew this before? I was mind blown haha!

IMG_7486.JPG

IMG_7490.JPG

*Lyall being a typical tourist*

IMG_7492.JPG

IMG_7494.JPG

IMG_7497.JPG

To travel around London we have in fact hired bicycles for the day, it was such a great idea! Not only did I exercise while sightseeing, but we were not stuck in the traffic once and did not have to worry about parking. I wish more (if any) cities in Scotland had bike hire stations.

IMG_7498.JPG

img_7523

The Buckingham Palace. I hope that one day I get the chance to tour it inside!

IMG_7524.JPG

I can’t believe that these guards have to stand there all day long with minimal movement. I could never do that for living!

IMG_7525.JPG

It’s also so funny to look back at photos I took and see people posing or taking their own photos.

bpalace.jpg

IMG_7526.JPG

I took the underground once or twice and It was so confusing. You need to get on or off so fast that it leaves you minimal time to think. I admire people who take it daily – you must be pro’s!

IMG_7527.JPG

And my favourite place to spend time in London is for sure the Trafalgar Square. There are always so many talented people showcasing their work there and you have plenty of restaurants/shops around to buy food from and enjoy it at the Square.

Lastly, on our final night in London I had a big surprise! Below is a little hint for you guys that are curious what it is and can maybe figure? You will find out exactly where I was or what I did on Monday’s post! *exciting*. 🙂

img_7544

I hope that you guys like this style of posts, filled with pictures rather than massive paragraphs, as personally I always find gallery based travel posts so entertaining!

Have you ever been to London? Let me know in the comments.

Tanya Burr Cosmetics: Birthday Suit Eye Shadow Palette Review (3 min read)

Hello everyone!

First of all I would like to apologise about this post going up today (Tuesday) and not yesterday (Monday). This is because I scheduled it for the wrong day (oops!). But here it is now, the last piece from the Tanya Burr Cosmetics collection which I have recently bought.

Have you checked out my previous posts in Tanya Burr Cosmetics series?

  1. Tanya Burr Cosmetics: Enchanted Dream Eye Shadow Palette Review (3 min read).
  2. Tanya Burr Cosmetics: All About The Lips (3 min read).

All caught up? Enjoy this post!

FullSizeRender.jpg

From what I know, this must be one of the most popular palettes from Tanya’s range; the Birthday Suit eye palette! I really adore this rose gold/deep peach packaging and the theme in which all of her palettes have in common – this makes them such a decorative piece for your vanity table!

FullSizeRender_1.jpg

This cute palette contains four bronze shadows: Marzipan, Toast, Cocoa sugar and Soft Truffle.

img_7256

Here are the swatches, starting from the top we have Marzipan, Toast, Cocoa Sugar and Soft Truffle. Toast & Soft Truffle are the matte shades and Marzipan & Cocoa Sugar are shimmery.

I absolutely adore using Marzipan as a highlighter on my cheekbones, bridge of the nose and under brow. Who said that eye shadows have no other uses? No one ever!

My favourite look using these shades is:

  1. Sweep Marzipan across your eye, from lash to brow, as a base and a transition colour.
  2. Pick either Toast or Cocoa Sugar and blend it just above the eye socket.
  3. Blend everything well.
  4. Define your lash line and outer eye using Soft Truffle.

img_7250

Overall, I really recommend this eye shadow palette. it’s only £5.99 at Superdrug which is a bargain. The pigmentation is there and you can create some pretty cool looks with all the shades. The only thing I don’t like is the fall out from the powder! To avoid this I apply these shadows before my foundation. Other than that, I give this palette a thumbs up!

Do you like this Birthday Suit Palette? Have you tried the Tanya Burr Cosmetics range yet? I would love to find out. 🙂

Like, comment, share and follow if you enjoyed this post!

Speak to you on Friday guys!

Tanya Burr Cosmetics: All About The Lips (3 min read)

Hello everyone,

I hope that you all liked my previous Tanya Burr Cosmetics: Enchanted Dream Eye Shadow Palette Review !

Today I will review two of the lip products in her range: one lip gloss and one matte liquid lipstick.

Enjoy.

IMG_7215

I wanted to try out one of each type of lip products in Tanya’s range before collecting all of them. All lip products cost £5.99 which is pretty decent for a drugstore collection. Since Martha Moo was sold out and will be sold out until November/December time, I chose the next colour that I liked from the two remaining shades available at Superdrug. I decided to get Rhubarb & Custard. As for the lip gloss, Lunch Date caught my eye.

This packaging is so pretty. Gold lid and clear tube – I really like it.

IMG_7217.JPG

FullSizeRender_1

Above you can see the applicator for Rubarb & Custard.

FullSizeRender_4

And here is the one for Lunch Date.

The matte applicator is wider and smaller, whereas, the lip gloss applicator is long and narrow. They both work fine for putting the product on your lips and distribute it well.

FullSizeRender_5.jpg

Here are the swatches; Rhubarb & Custard on top and Lunch Date on the bottom. None of them came out patchy and smelt of vanilla and sugar *yummy*. However, the gloss is a little bit too sticky on my lips, maybe next time I should try patting on some translucent powder to mattify it a little bit?

FullSizeRender_3.jpg

Comparing both formulas I 100% prefer the matte liquid lipstick. It dries fast, has a great staying power and does not cake your lips. I really hope that Martha Moo comes back in stock real quick! Of course, I now also want to try out Puppy Paws. Maybe more shades will become available with time? I would love that.

So do any of you guys use Tanya Burrs lip products? What are your favourite shades or what do you think of the two shades that I picked out in this post? Let me know in the comment section!

Tanya Burr Cosmetics: Enchanted Dream Eye Shadow Palette Review (3 min read)

Hi everyone,

Recently I have purchased quite a few products from the Tanya Burr Cosmetics collection. I have always watched Tanya’s videos, yet lately I had the urge to have a shopping spree and try out the whole range!

In this post I will review her Enchanted Dream Eye Palette. I bought it from Superdrug for £5.99, click here to check it out.

Lets get started!

FullSizeRender_3.jpg

First lets look at the packaging. The Enchanted Dream Palette is of a lilac shade with silver, holographic stars scattered around.  Her logo is chic and simple – just her name in a nice, black font as you can see. I think that this packaging is adorable and will present well as a display at any vanity table!

IMG_7247.JPG

As you open the packaging, you can see that there are four shades.

FullSizeRender_1.jpg

These shades are: Moonlit Walk, Cocoa Plum, Berry Soufflé and Magic Carpet.

dfghjk

Starting left with Magic Carpet to right with Moonlit Walk are the shades mentioned above. Magic Carpet & Berry Soufflé are matte shades and Cocoa Plum & Moonlit Walk are shimmery.

The eye shadows are neutral and so handy for a day-to-day look. My favourite look using these shades is:

  1. Sweep Moonlit Walk across your eye, from lash to brow, as a base and a transition colour.
  2. Pick either Cocoa Plum or Berry Soufflé and blend it just above the eye socket.
  3. Blend well.
  4. Define your lash line and outer eye using Magic Carpet.

FullSizeRender_2.jpg

Overall, I am happy with this little palette. It is a convenient size to take with you while travelling, it is pigmented and has very little fallout when applying. Also, £5.99 is a real bargain for four gorgeous neutral shades!

Next week I’ll be reviewing more of Tanya Burr cosmetics so stay tuned.

Do you own any Tanya Burr cosmetics? What do you think of this Enchanted Dream Palette? Let me know in the comment section below!

How I Clean My Brushes (3 min read)

Hey! I hope everyone is having a great day! 🙂

Cleaning your make-up brushes is so important – not only will it allow a nice & clean application every time but it will reduce the appearance of acne on your face. The old make-up product which builds up on your brush will have its own bacteria and dust settling, therefore, it’s almost a necessity to keep them clean!

Today I want to share with you two ways in which I clean my brushes. All of the products that I use in this post are new to me, however, last year I have mentioned another great brush cleansing product here if you want to check out another option.

One of my biggest obsessions this year (so far) has been buying brushes. My collection has grown so much and added another weekly chore to my weekly schedule – that is cleaning them.

I will now tell you two ways of cleaning your brushes – the first is a lazy routine and the second one is more time consuming. Let’s get started!

Lazy Routine – Quick Scrub

FullSizeRender.jpg

This method involves two things: a brush cleansing spray and a face cloth/towel. This month I have really been into using the New Look Pure Colour Brush Cleaner. This bottle has 200ml and only costs £3.99 … WHAT A BARGAIN! I am very happy with the way it cleans my brushes and it smells like the seaside to me:’) I highly recommend it to anyone that likes cleaning their brushes- it’s so worth getting!

All you need to do is spray the product onto the cloth and swirl your brush bristles around until they look clean! Takes a few minutes and dries very quickly, this is especially handy when you are using different shades of make-up and can make a fast switch on a clean brush.

Proper Cleanse – For People That Have Time

This method usually takes over night to complete and so I only do this once a week. For this you need: warm water, baby shampoo & I additionally use a brushegg to scrub the brushes.

All you need to do is soak your brushes in warm water for 20 minutes, then put a small amount of baby shampoo on the palm of your hand & swirl every brush in circular motion. Any make-up should instantly come off and change the colour of the shampoo. After this you rinse the brushes in cool water, squeeze excess water out and let them dry over night – tah dah you’ll wake up to dry & clean brushes!

I hope that you enjoyed this post, if so please like, comment, share & follow to stay tuned to the future ones!

Do you clean your brushes regularly? What method/ products do you use?

Thanks for reading.

No7: Magic Foundation?! (3 min read)

Hey!

Today I wanted to share with you this exciting drugstore find.

To find out what the foundation is like and why I think it’s magic, carry on reading!

Last week I casually paid a visit to my local Boots store to have a look at what products are new in/ browse through any offers. I never really checked out No7 make up before so I just went for it. I’m so glad I did, otherwise I would never discover this little gem.

This No7 foundation is called Intelligent Colour Foundation and costs £15.50. It comes in the general shades of Light, Medium and Dark (I bought Medium). It’s meant to be hypo-allergenic, suit all skin types and give a sheer & dewy finish.

FullSizeRender_2.jpg

(the camera would only focus on the packaging and not the plant, sorry if it bothers anyone!)

At this point if you’re thinking “wow, why does it not come in more shades” or “how would you know which shade to get”, at first I thought that too. However, I asked a No7 Beauty Consultant to explain to me what this foundation is/does.

FullSizeRender_1.jpg

She told me that for now it’s one of the only foundations of this kind that are out in the beauty market. I got to sample a few swatches to see which shade would adjust to my skin. Yep, ADJUST to my skin tone!

I think that this foundation is basically magic in the way that it will change its colour to whatever your skin is – making your base even and glowing. This sounds too good to be true because obviously your skin tone will change in between seasons, and if this foundation actually adjusts to your colour then you will always have a foundation to wear! Such money saver.

FullSizeRender_3.jpg

I will now show you how the application process looks like. The picture above shows you my bare skin.

FullSizeRender_5.jpg

When you put the foundation on your skin it will seem so off in colour at first.

FullSizeRender_6.jpg

But give it a few minutes…

FullSizeRender_7.jpg

… and you won’t be able to tell that you have make-up on! For anyone that is wondering about the scent – it simply smells like a nice moisturiser.

For now I will start using it daily to see what it does to my skin and if it can handle these bad breakout days as well. I will definitely keep you guys updated and post a review in a few weeks time. I am so impressed with No7 for now and will look into more of their products.

Have any of you previously heard of this Intelligent Colour Foundation or own it? What is your first impression on it after reading this post?
